A bride and her brother have fallen out after she told him he could not bring a plus one to her wedding when he suggested inviting his female best friend instead of his girlfriend
A bride has been left furious as her brother wants to bring a female plus one to his wedding – and it isn’t his girlfriend.
Taking to Reddit to speak about the situation, the bride said the wedding drama has left her brother furious.
It all started when she asked about her brother’s girlfriend’s dietary requirements. She wrote: “He said that she wasn’t going to come and that he was taking his girl best friend, Amanda, instead.”
She said she finds her brother and Amanda’s relationship “weird” and believes she “strings him along”. “He always denies having feeling for her, but let’s be real here,” the wife-to-be said.
Her brother asked if Amanda could come to the wedding so she “see the old gang” from school. “I told him I would have invited Amanda if I wanted her there,” she fumed. She added that at “every event” Amanda makes a scene and ends up running away or crying. She told her brother that Amanda could not come.
She continued: “I said my decision was final. He could take it or leave it, but I would be inviting his girlfriend myself because I like her. He screamed at me and told me to keep out of his business. I said to get rid of his weird feelings for Amanda. He is mad at me.”
Luckily, she has her mum on her side who is just as furious with her son. But, she wonders if she has been too harsh and asked Reddit users for help. The post garnered more than 12,500 reactions, with people seemingly all in agreement.
One said: “I have think bottom line is you don’t want Amanda at your wedding because she causes a scene and brings a negative energy. I think you are well within your right to say she is not allowed at the wedding.”
Another added: “He doesn’t get to bring someone intentionally not invited to your wedding. Unfortunately you can’t control his obsession with Amanda and he likely has to keep destroying relationships before he finally gets that he is prioritising her over his relationships.”
A third said: “It’s your wedding and you don’t need your brother and his side chick’s drama in your special event. However do be aware that inviting your brother and his girlfriend will probably cause trouble, maybe consider uninviting your brother too.”
While a fourth added: “He needs a huge reality check this chick Amanda sounds super problematic and toxic and since it is your wedding you are absolutely within your rights to decide who gets to be there and who doesn’t.”
