A flight attendant has revealed an easy trick you can use if you hate turbulence on a plane, as one simple pre-flight step could guarantee you barely feel the bumps

Experiencing turbulence on a flight can be scary, but there’s one thing you can do to make it easier to manage.

Whether you’re a seasoned flier or feel nervous setting foot on a plane, turbulence can make all of us feel uneasy. It can impact any flight and occurs when a plane hits a strong wind current, which can end up pushing or pulling the vessel.

Light turbulence occurs quite frequently on flights, but if you’re worried about moderate or severe turbulence, then it may ease your fears to know that it’s quite rare. In fact, severe turbulence only occurs on 0.0001% of flights worldwide, according to University of Melbourne Associate Professor Todd Lane.

If you’re due to jet off on your summer holidays in the coming weeks and are still concerned about even light turbulence, then worry no longer – as a flight attendant has shared one easy hack you can use to ease your fears.

In a video posted to TikTok, flight attendant Miva told her followers that if you’re particularly worried about turbulence, there’s only one thing you need to do to make sure you “feel it the least” when you’re actually on your flight. And the best part is it can be done before you ever step foot on the plane.

So what do you need to do? Simply book a seat toward the front of the plane. Miva explained: “Reserve a seat at the front of the plane. If there is any turbulence, you will feel it the least at the front.”

The flight attendant also encouraged nervous fliers to speak to the staff on their flight and let them know how they’re feeling, as this will let attendants know to “check on you” during the journey. And it’s also important you have plenty of things to distract yourself with, such as your favourite playlist or audiobook.

Commenters on the post were thankful for Miva’s advice. One person said they were advised to sit at the wing of the plane to avoid turbulence, but another nervous flier insisted that Miva’s tip was better. They wrote: “I felt turbulence on the wing. Definitely, the front of the plane is better.”

Another commented: “Thank you so much for this! I’ve always wondered where the best place to sit on a plane was,” while someone else shared: “Thank you. Flying this evening and trying to stay positive.”
