Two people have been rushed to hospital following a knife fight in the early hours. The emergency services raced to Walden Avenue, in Rainham, at 5.45am today (Tuesday, June 25) to reports of a street fight.
A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with a stab wound. A woman in her 30s was also injured, having thought to have been attacked in the fight. There are crime scenes in place late on Tuesday morning.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 5.44am on Tuesday, June 25, to Walden Avenue, Rainham, to reports of a group of people fighting, one of who was reported to be armed with a knife. A man in his 40s was found with a stab injury. He was taken to hospital and we await an assessment of his condition.
“A woman in her 30s was also found injured. She’s believed to have been assaulted and receiving medical treatment. Enquiries are ongoing. A number of crime scenes are in place. Witnesses or those with information should call 101 ref CAD 1227/25 Jun.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.54am today (June 25) to reports of a stabbing on Walden Avenue, Rainham.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a man at the scene and took him to hospital.”
