A woman decided to put her husband ‘to the test’ after becoming fed up of his lack of initiative and proactiveness around the house – and it didn’t end well at all
A woman has admitted she’s so fed up with her husband’s lack of ability to “see right what’s in front of his eyes” she’s decided to put him to the test.
Taking to Mumsnet, she explained her spouse regularly complains he can’t find his keys or nappy sacks – even though they are always left in the same place. In a rant in the Relationships forum, she said after having the grandchildren over, she had to put everything away due to his laziness.
However, fed up of his behaviour, she decided to see just how complacent her man could be. Explaining the ‘test’, she wrote: “There’s an unused nappy sack, next to the hearth… its been there now since 3pm, and normally I would just pick it up and put it away, the same as I would put things on the stairs, he will step over them, I of course will pick them up and carry they up.
“I wonder exactly how long it will be before he moves it, cos I won’t.” It seems she’s not the only woman frustrated by her man’s poor sense of initiative – as scores more were quick to detail similar scenarios.
“My partner does this,” one Mumsnet user said. “Drives me mad. He used a saucepan to make scrambled eggs which I refused to wash. Didn’t even mention it. He asked me after a week to wash the saucepan I had used to make eggs. Cannot win at all.”
Another cursed: “If I had a pound for every time DH [dear husband] can’t find something and I find it straight away right in front of his face, I’d be loaded. It’s almost like they don’t see past the end of their nose. I’m fully invested in seeing how long it takes for the nappy bag to be noticed.”
A third slammed: “DH brought a tin of paint in from the shed to paint over a bit of wall that he had damaged. It sat on the floor in our study for eight months before he finally took it back to the shed, (without doing the 10 minutes worth of painting).”
And a fourth said: “DH told me he was going for a walk on Christmas Eve so I asked him to drop a card to one of the neighbours. I wrote the card and left it on the hall floor next to the front door. He forgot it. It’s still there.”
The original poster returned to the comments section a day later to share a snap of her living room – and the nappy sack remained unmoved.
