A decapitated robot head discovered on the doorstep of a man’s workplace has prompted wild theories in the Reddit community as to how it got there and, perhaps more importantly, why

It might be common to find delivery packages on our doorsteps, but one man has been left baffled after discovery what had been left outside his workplace.

Taking to Reddit he shared snap of his bizarre find – the head of of a robot complete with human-like eyes and a nose, but sadly severed from the rest of its body. A reverse shot of the AI noggin showed a series of wires inside, some of which had seemingly been snipped when the bot was beheaded.

Found outside my work,” the man simply said in the Weird subreddit. It prompted some to speculate whether it was the remains of a a Halloween spirit ball decorations, whilst others believed it could be the head of a crash test dummy.

Elsewhere, others were left to question its existance. “Are you in a dystopian future right now?” one Reddit user asked. “Wow, and I was happy finding one plastic boob behind a Victoria’s Secret,” said another. “Where do you work that you find things like this?”

“Do you work next to a Nightmare Factory?” a third asked, whist a fourth pondered similarly: “Do you work at Five Nights at Freddy’s?”

Earlier this year it was reported that a humanoid robot, that has been designed to look and act in a similar way to us, will be showcased at the National Robotarium in Edinburgh as part of a project to help humans and robots understand each other better.

The bot, which goes by the name Ameca, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to communicate with people. Ameca has cameras for eyes and microphones for ears, and is described as being able to “interact with people in a natural and engaging way”. Researchers say that Ameca can pull facial expressions to show its thinking and joking, using its advanced motorised components and smart facial recognition software.
