After Princess Kate’s shock cancer diagnosis and her stay at the London Clinic, she kept in touch with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis using a relatable app

As a working royal Princess Kate is often away from home – but she has a very relatable way of keeping in touch with her children when she can’t be by their side.

With her shock cancer diagnosis and her subsequent stay at the London Clinic, it would undoubtedly have been a tough time for Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five. It’s thought the 41-year-old princess kept in touch with the youngsters using FaceTime, especially while Prince William was looking after the trio at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate. HELLO!’s Royal Editor Emily Nash said: “Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working away overseas so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough.”

“She loves having her family around her. Both William and Kate are very hands-on parents – they take the kids to school, attend sports matches and concerts, and try to be home for bedtime as much as they can. While Kate is in hospital, William will be at home keeping things as normal as possible.” Young royals are held to the same standard as the rest of the Windsors, but Kate and William have done their best to ensure the kids have as normal as possible a childhood. In 2023, the family moved out of London to Windsor so they could grow up in a less urban area.

Speaking to Yahoo!, Royal Editor Omid Scobie explained: “They thought about moving to [their home in] Norfolk, but as active senior working royals, they could never be that far away from London, so that’s where Windsor came into the picture. They want to give their kids “as normal a life as possible.”

In the move to Windsor, the family traded the extra space of Kensington Palace for the smaller Adelaide Cottage. This meant that there was no room for their live in Norland nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, to live with them. Maria, who has been with the royals since 2014, is said to be living in a nearby private accommodation which is paid for by the Wales’s.
