It’s one of those bucket list cities that many of us want to visit, but its hefty price can be off putting – one woman has shared exactly how to travel to Milan, how to save on accommodation, and enjoy your trip on the cheap
A travel lover has shared exactly how to get to Milan and enjoy the city on a budget.
It’s that time of year when many of us will be pulling our suitcases out of cupboards or start checking our passports are in date as summer holidays are underway. Some travellers opt for a UK mini break while others head abroad – and some lucky individuals will be ticking off their bucket list destinations.
One hotspot which is bound to be busy this summer is Milan. The stunning and bustling Italian city, famous for its food and fashion, continues to wow tourists and sees plenty of people dreaming to live there. But a downside to the chic spot is that it is the richest metropolitan area of Italy, according to Expatica. As a result, many travellers might be put off visiting the city and opt for an alternative destination.
However, one woman named Bex, from Yorkshire, has shared how you can significantly cut your costs down after going on a solo trip to the city.
Bex, who has raked in 6.1million likes on TikTok said that she often gets asked about her trip to Milan. “With flights so cheap I thought it was time to start to give a snapshot.” She says that you can get flights from the UK to Milan for £30.
She added: “This trip was a couple of years ago but I’ve checked out most of the train and ferry fares and they are still very similar, the only thing you won’t get these days is an £11 flight but £28 (current price) is still pretty good!”
She advises travelling to Milan Malpensa from Manchester Airport, which is priced at £11 for a there and return with Ryanair. Her trip was two days long, and she went by herself.
She also paid £17 for airport parking, £4.70 for a cable car through the city plus £5 for a Funicular ride. She spent one night at Villa Belvedere which set her back £54, and then the second night she stopped at Spice Hotel Milano for a price of £39.
Bex added: “This trip was in January so bear in mind prices will be higher in season but I always tell people to travel out of season as it’s so quiet and you can still get beautiful weather just like I did!”
Reacting to Bex’s travel hack, one individual said: “I love how you’ve done this – very inspiring.” Another described her tips as “outstanding”.
One other added: “God I wish I lived in Europe! I’d make the most of these flights.”
