A woman trying to quit vaping has revealed the ‘disgusting’ reality of what is inside the popular e-cigs – and has managed to ‘save’ others and convince them to quit forever

A woman has left people stunned after showing exactly what is inside a vape.

Vapes have been booming in popularity in recent years, with an alarming number of teens purchasing them. Even boys and girls aged under five are becoming so ill from vaping they are ending up in hospital. Recently, a nightclub bouncer was left in a coma and nearly died after ‘continuously’ puffing away on a disposable vape.

A woman named Maria recently shared that she and her roommates decided to crack down on their vaping habits. The group put all their vapes in a jar of water so that they wouldn’t be able to use them. But Maria was left gobsmacked by the “disgusting” colour of the water, revealing the contents of their vapes.

She showed the jar in a recent TikTok video, which raked in three million likes. Maria said: “If you need a reminder to quit vaping, this is a jar full of water me and my roommates compiled, of all our vapes we put in when we told ourselves we were going to quit vaping.”

Pointing to the colour the water had turned, she added: “But that’s actually really disgusting. Look at that, it’s like black and there’s a mystery goo in the little jar. Isn’t that just disgusting?

“So if you’re like wow I want to quit vaping, look at that.”

Commenting on the video, one individual wrote: “It’s so dumb to pick up vaping if you didn’t even smoke or do anything beforehand.” “So glad I’ve never started vaping,” said another.

A third, who is also trying to quit, commented: “16 hours not vaping and it’s killing me. I’m taking this as a sign to keep going!” “You just saved me,” wrote another.

A fifth, who has managed to quit, commented: “Quit vaping when I was sick and I’m now 21 days vape free and haven’t even had a craving for them.” One other said: “I quit, I’m never going back.”

What health experts say

The NHS says: “Vapes can contain nicotine, and they can quickly become harmfully addictive for children and young people. Make sure that you know the risks of this increasingly popular activity.”

It adds: “Vaping is not completely harmless and we only recommend it for adult smokers, to support quitting smoking and staying quit. While the long-term effects of vaping are still being researched, it’s thought they can have a negative impact on the health of the heart and lungs.”

Cancer Research UK says: “Some potentially harmful chemicals have been found in e-cigarettes. They should only be used to help you stop smoking, or to stop you going back to tobacco. Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is addictive. If you have never smoked, you shouldn’t use e-cigarettes.”
