If you’re looking for an escape from reality but don’t want to leave the UK, there’s a jam-packed 27-day adventure that will cost you an eye-watering £7,000

Despite many people thinking you have to fly hours to experience something otherworldly, it is actually possible to have an adventure without leaving the UK.

If you’re lucky enough to have a month’s worth of holiday to spare, but don’t want the added pressure of going abroad, there’s an adventure tour that shows off the very best of what the country has to offer.

The four-week epic journey from The Adventure People will take you to all corners of Great Britain, but you’ll need to have a cool £7,000 to spare. Over 27 days, intrepid travellers and adventurers can explore the expansive coasts and countryside of the UK, archaeological and architectural wonders, and the rich history of some of the country’s most popular cities.

The adventure will take you through the likes of London, Cornwall, Dartmoor National Park, Oxford, Cardiff, Snowdonia, Liverpool, the Lake District, Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Isle of Skye and Inverness. Be at one with nature in Britain’s best national parks and Scotland’s most iconic landscapes; learning from local guides the hidden secrets of each stop.

So what’s in store for you if you’re ready to take the plunge? Well, if you’re a Harry Potter lover, the trip will explore J.K. Rowling’s greatest inspirations in Edinburgh and take one of the world’s most scenic train journeys through the Highlands, crossing the famed Glenfinnan Viaduct, even if it isn’t the actual Hogwarts Express.

The trip will also take you to the archaeological wonder of Stonehenge and discover all you need to know about the rich history of this iconic site. This will be the gateway to the Cotswolds, arguably boasting some of the most enviable surroundings in England.

Explore the sleepy villages, such as Moreton-in-Marsh, as well wandering through endless fields and taste some of the best ales in the neighbourhood. After that, you’ll be crossing the border into Wales to visit its capital, Cardiff, where Doctor Who fans will already be familiar with several of the city centre locations.

It of course wouldn’t be a trip to Wales without a detour to Snowdonia National Park.

Walk the famous Lon Gwyrfai path in Snowdonia National Park for a scenic hike to Rhyd Ddu. But don’t worry, that won’t be the only national park you’ll be visiting on the trip. You’ll visit the mountainous landscape of Lake District National Park, exploring the famous town of Windermere and a stop off to Beatrix Potter’s home in Near Sawrey.

Crossing the border into Scotland, you’ll be able to continue the hiking adventure, with the opportunity to trek through the purple heather in Cairngorms National Park. Explore the historic city scape of Edinburgh Old Town, or take in views from Arthur’s Seat.

Following that you’ll head to Glasgow, renowned for being a UNESCO Creative City of Music. Scotland’s Highlands is also on the list, before venturing out to the Isle of Skye by ferry.

Soak up the fresh sea air and mountain views and taste your way through the local whisky. Then, take a day trip through the stunning landscapes and medieval castles of Skye. If you’re missing the mainland, there’s no need to fret, as your journey will take you to the mythological site of Loch Ness and Inverness, before completely your mammoth 27-day adventure back in Edinburgh.
