Aldi fans have been left in stitches after spotting a hand-written message on a label of dog ice cream from Aldi. Shoppers are saying it shows how the staff have ‘zero faith’ in their customers
Supermarket chain Aldi is renowned not just for their delicious food, low prices, and iconic middle aisles, but also for having a great sense of humour. From ‘feuds’ with Marks & Spencer over their Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake, to a number of hilarious adverts, they manage to walk a very cheeky line with their customers with ease.
One recent display of their wit has left shoppers in stitches while joking the chain clearly has “zero faith” in their customers. Shared on Reddit thread Casual UK the photo showed a pricetag for Langham’s Doggy Ice Cream, priced at £2.99. However, next to the details was a handwritten note reading: “For Dogs Only!!”
The owner of the snap captioned it: “When Aldi has absolutely zero faith in their customer base”. People were in hysterics at the hilarious remark with many wondering what had happened to necessitate such an addition to the label.
One user wrote: “I bet they had a complaint from some disgruntled numpty who ate it.” And someone else added: “My brother worked for WH Smith and there was an offer on for an album with a free air guitar. A customer complained that she hadn’t received the free air guitar. So, I don’t blame Aldi for adding the note.”
Another person reasoned: “Ben and Jerrys sells Phish Food ice cream so its not an unrealistic clarification to make.” And one more shopper added: “I hope I wouldn’t make this error, but as a non dog owner – they sell ice cream for dogs? Do dogs even like ice cream and why do they need special ice cream? I don’t think I have ever checked whether ice cream I was about to buy was designed for humans, because I would have thought that all ice cream for sale is designed for humans. Apparently not.”
It’s not the first time Aldi labels or packing has had customers in stitches. One shopper was puzzled after spotting a strange-looking symbol on a product from the supermarket. Taking to the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook page, they shared a picture of the packaging, with the caption: “What’s all this about,” followed by laughing emojis.
Many in the comment section of the social media post were caught off-guard by the symbol, which one person said looked ‘naughty’. Other Aldi fans were in stitches as a person hilariously suggested: “Contains sweaty nuts,” followed by a crying-while laughing emoji.
The Mirror has reached out to Aldi for comment.
