Windows PCs across the globe have been hit by major issues this morning with advice now issued on how to fix the bug.

A global IT outage has caused PCs across the globe to go into meltdown with many reporting their devices are in a disastrous crash loop and showing the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). The problems appear to have been caused by an update released by the cyber security team at CrowdStrike with the glitch impacting global businesses such as airlines, banks, supermarkets and even Sky News which was suddenly taken off-air due to technical issues.

Ryanair has also confirmed that it has been hit by the “third-party” IT issues which is affecting some flights.

Confirming the issues, CrowdStrike said: “We have widespread reports of BSODs on Windows hosts, occurring on multiple sensor versions,”

The company says it has now fixed the fault but PCs already impacted seem to still be having issues.

Workaround steps have now been issued for IT admins – via Reddit – with firm’s urged to follow instructions as soon as possible.

Workaround Steps:

• Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment

• Navigate to the C:WindowsSystem32driversCrowdStrike directory

• Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it.

• Boot the host normally.
