The discovery has since gone viral on social media with one shopper admitting they ‘just had a Magnum as a mid-afternoon snack and life has never been better’
UK supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has reportedly upped the ante on its prized meal deal, igniting chatter amongst its 30 million customers and sending social media into a buzz.
As a staple for Brits on-the-go, Sainsbury’s meal deal comprising of a main, like a sandwich or pasta pot, a snack including crisps options, and a drink, recently saw a price hike that did not go unnoticed.
Disgruntled shoppers took to their keyboards with one emphatic customer proclaiming on the social media platform X: “The country is past the point of any repair. The Sainsbury’s meal deal has gone up to £3.75.”
Another lamented over the grim start to the week revealing: “Just when I thought Mondays couldn’t get any worse, I’ve just realised Sainsbury’s meal deals are now £3.75.”
However, in a sweet twist, it turns out you can score an ice cream or an ice lolly as a part of the notorious £3.75 meal deal. Cooling down on a summer day just got easier, with favourites like Magnums, Calippos, Feasts, Twisters Cadbury Flake cones, Oreo ice cream sandwiches and Solero now in the mix, reports the Express.
The branch-specific offerings will depend on stock availability.
This cool revelation has quickly become a hot topic online, with a post from X user Evie Aspinall going viral: “PSA: You can get ice cream as your snack in the Sainsbury’s meal deal.”
She added a personal touch of delight, stating: “I just had a Magnum as a mid-afternoon snack and life has never been better. “
A savvy shopper has gone viral after sharing a “life-changing” Sainsbury’s meal deal hack, sending shoppers wild. The post racked up thousands of likes and comments from shoppers eager to try it out for themselves.
Martin McCabe said: “This changes everything.” Another person commented: “Revolutionary.”
Adam added: “This is life-changing. Thanks for sharing.” Alice Wright said: “Oh my days! ! ! This is the best news!”
However, Sainsbury’s isn’t the only supermarket where you can get an ice cream with your meal deal. A Tesco meal deal will set you back £3.90, or £3.40 for Clubcard holders, but also allows you to swap your usual snack for a sweet treat.
You can also get a more expensive meal deal for £5.50, which includes options from the Tesco Finest range.
