If you’re looking to treat yourself to a fry up this weekend, you can create the ultimate weekend brekkie completely in an air fryer

The full English breakfast is synonymous with British cafe and greasy spoon culture, creating a hearty meal to start off the date.

If you’re looking to emulate your favourite caff’s fry up from the comfort of your own home, you can do so – and you can do it in an air fryer.

Yes, it is possible for you to create a scrumptious full English all-in-one with an air fryer, the nation’s must-have kitchen gadget. But if you don’t know where to start, the foodie brains at BBC GoodFood have shared a fool-proof way to create a “weekend brunch dream”.

In a video posted to the magazine’s Instagram, foodie wizz Samuel Goldsmith created the decant breakfast in the second episode of ‘Air Fry-day’.

GoodFood captioned the post: “Calling all air-fryer fans – did you know you can make a full fry-up in your favourite kitchen gadget? @samuelwgoldsmith’s inventive recipe includes all your favourites: sausages, bacon, mushrooms, beans and an egg muffin, but makes this satisfying breakfast even easier to enjoy – and more energy-efficient to boot.”

Alles wrote in the comments: “Yum! Love a good Fry up at weekends! Team Brown Sauce.”

Emily simply said, “The weekend brunch dream. (Brown sauce btw),” while Soniahzl commented, “Right up my street p.s. red sauce for the win.”

Julia agreed: “Fabulous way to start your day!” Jemma said: “Absolutely love this idea!”

Ingredients

  • One English muffin
  • ½ tsp butter, softened
  • 200g mushrooms, roughly chopped
  • ½ tsp olive oil
  • One tomato, halved across the equator
  • Two sausages
  • Two hash browns
  • One egg
  • Two bacon rashers
  • ½ 400g can or 200g can baked beans (optional)

Method

Heat the air-fryer to 180℃. Slice the English muffin in half and cut a circle out of one half, leaving a 2cm-thick ring. Toast for five to six minutes in the air-fryer, remove, then butter the whole half and press the other half onto it. The set aside.

Next up, put the mushrooms in a bowl and drizzle over the oil. Season with salt and pepper and stir to coat the mushrooms. Tip them into the air-fryer and cook for four minutes until they begin to soften.

Season the cut halves of the tomato, then put in the air-fryer with the mushrooms and add the sausages, too. Cook for two minutes before adding the hash browns and cook for another four minutes.

Meanwhile, crack the egg into a small cup or ramekin. Put the muffin on a plate, then pour the egg into the hole on top of the muffin. Set aside.

You’ll notice that your air-fryer is probably quite full, so spoon the mushrooms on top of the tomatoes to make some room. Put the bacon on top of the sausages, then carefully nestle in the egg muffin. Cook for further eight to ten minutes.

If your air-fryer is large enough, pour the beans into a ramekin and nestle in to cook as well. Alternatively, microwave the beans for two minutes instead. To finish, add your sauce of sauce – red or brown.
