The three children killed in the horrific house fire in East Ham on Saturday, July 13 have been named for the first time by police. They are 7-year-old boy Muhammad Hanan Malik, 11-year-old girl Aayat Malik and 13-year-old boy Nakash Malik.
Their parents Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan spoke of their children: “Your lives were a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May you rest in peace in God’s heaven.”
The fire brigade was called to the house on Napier Road at 8.32am and tragically found one of the children dead at the scene. The other two died later in hospital – one during the night after the fire, the other three days after the blaze on July 16.

Another child and two adults were rushed to the hospital after being rescued by firefighters and neighbours who threw bricks at the windows to break them for escape routes. Two of these people were still in a serious condition six days after the blaze while thankfully one had been discharged and was receiving treatment as an outpatient.
Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines fought the blaze on the ground floor and first floor of the terraced house. It took 40 minutes to get it under control. Met Police are investigating the fire but said there is ‘no evidence to indicate suspicious circumstances’ in a statement.
