A mysterious series of events left one person convinced that someone is sneaking into their home. But the internet is convinced this isn’t the full story – what do you think?
Ever had the eerie feeling that someone’s been sneaking around your house?
From the unexplained creaking of floorboards, to a mysterious thump in the night – it’s easy to get spooked when something’s a little off. But now, one person believes they have ‘proof’ that someone has indeed been slipping into their home and they’re at a loss about what to do.
The chilling situation unfolded around two weeks ago when they found an odd item which had seemingly materialised out of nowhere in their home. Believe it or not, this was a single set of fake eyelashes resting on their bed.
Taking to Reddit, the anonymous user explained: “My girlfriend found an individual false eyelash in the bed which she was confused by and questioned me about it because she doesn’t wear them. I could understand the concern given I know she doesn’t wear them but I have no idea where it could have come from, especially for it to end up on the bed sheet under the duvet.”
In the following days, things only got stranger. It seemed their door lock had also become ‘loose’, hinting it may have been tampered with. Given the robustness of this lock, the couple also believe it would have required ‘physical force’ to be pushed in this manner.
The user continued: “Today I walked into the kitchen and step on something, it’s a fake red finger nail that’s been used as you can see the old patch of glue on the bottom. I showed my girlfriend and she had no idea either? She doesn’t wear ppl either of these things.
“To clarify we have not had ANY guests that would have brought these things in. Neither of us have been in contact with people that have had these things and the eyelash was INSIDE the bed?”
To make matters worse, the user implied their partner is concerned there’s infidelity involved. But the writer simply can’t explain why these strange things are happening.
They added: “We often hear what sounds like a classic android notification sound but from out living room [too.] Just to be clear this isn’t a building where you can hear your neighbour talking, it’s a big sturdy old military office building.
“The building holds 6 separate flats and we’ve lived here about 10 months. Has anyone else had any strange things happen?”
The anonymous admission was quick to rack up more than 100 comments on Reddit, as various users chimed in with their theories about the mysterious happenings. One person wrote: “Both these items have glue on them and are easily picked up on clothes and footwear.”
Meanwhile, another added: “There’s a thing… is it called [phrogging]? Something like squatters but the people are living in an occupied home. I’d get some cameras, change locks, and talk to the landlord.”
However, one sceptic wrote: “Or op is cheating on his wife and playing the stupid card ‘oh babe I have no idea how this happened! Instead of buying cameras that only I’ll have access to the footage, let me ask Reddit’.”
