A woman who parked her car and went off to work was stunned to find a curt message on it when she returned which was mercilessly mocked by others online

A resident’s long list of reasons she doesn’t want anyone parking outside her house has left people baffled.

Parking problems are an everyday headache for many people – car parks are either full or cost a fortune and often there just isn’t anywhere that isn’t restricted to leave your vehicle before work or while visiting family and friends.

If the issue spills over into local neighbourhoods and spaces are taken up by non-resident vehicles, tempers can really flare and the situation can become ugly. One woman who had found herself a spot in a local street in the morning, returned from work to get her car and head off home but discovered a rude note had been left on her windscreen.

Laura, from Australia, shared a picture of the typed letter to a local Instagram page called @justadelaidethings, according to Kidspot, so others living in the area could see its somewhat outrageous contents. It began “Hi non-resident of Godfrey Terrace, please find a new location to park your car.”

The note then went on to say that Laura had “created problems” for the resident’s visitors, including their gardener, cleaner and friends who were all upset they couldn’t park directly outside the property.

The disgruntled author then revealed they were concerned her car would be there at a crucial time: “We have several celebrations including a VIP event coming up,” they wrote., “and prefer your car is not parked opposite our pedestrian gate especially so that the two limousines can park nicely opposite our home.”

After, it was shared online with the caption: “Won’t someone think of the limousines?” locals were quick to share their amusement and disbelief: “Is this… a joke?” one asked. “It reads like Wealthy Entitlement bingo.” Another quizzed: “Surely someone isn’t that out of touch and this is a p**stake?” While a third joked: “Let’s all park there and commute to our jobs.”

Others pointed out they had no right to say who could park outside their house: “Anyone can park wherever they like/can as long as they obey any signals around parking. If there are no signs, it’s up for grabs for anyone to park there,” they wrote. Another stated: “You as homeowner/renter are not entitled to the spaces in front of your property.”

However there were a couple who recognised how annoying the parking issue in residential areas are: “Yeah I get that it’s a rule of thumb not to park directly outside people’s houses but these people are ridiculously pretentious,” said one.

As another related to the problem through their own experience, sharing: “While I’m not excusing the passive-aggressive and entitled tone of this note, we have commuters that regularly park on our street and it does my head in.”
