A Liverpool fan has taken to social media to share a piece of clothing she believes is the ‘worst piece of clothing in existence’ after spotting it in Sports Direct
As the new season approaches, football fans up and down the country have been are rushing to snap up the latest kits and merchandise dedicated to their favourite teams.
However, a Nike-produced gilet for Liverpool FC received a frosty reception from some quarters. A disgruntled female supporter took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to vent her frustration over the discounted item, which she branded the “worst piece of clothing in existence”.
The contentious sleeveless garment, a woolly green concoction available in various shades, was found in Sports Direct with a price tag of £45. The fan expressed: “I did it. I found the worst piece of clothing in existence. I dare anyone to find anything worse.”
When other users on X suggested the gilet “wasn’t too bad apart from the badge”, she retorted: “Anyone saying it’s not too bad other than the badge… I’ve seen better carpet on the stairs to the toilets at Wetherspoons.”
The sentiment was echoed by others, with one individual commenting: “I seen that a few months ago in the club store, it’s bloody awful.” Another chimed in: “It’s vile and not a single Liverpool fan will disagree.”
In a cheeky dig, a rival Manchester United supporter remarked: “There’s only one man who could even try and make this monstrosity look good and that’s David Beckham. And he would never even touch this with a pole.” And a fourth X user blasted the design, saying: “Oh my goodness it’s hideous.”
The comments section was also abuzz with comparisons to public transport seating. One person remarked: “It looks like it’s made from the same material and design used on bus seats.” Another chimed in with a critique: “It is challenging the fabric design on a London underground seat… but even their seats are not a composite of lurid greens.”
Meanwhile, a third person posted a picture of a bus seat, jokingly adding: “Just stuck a Nike badge on these.”
