A flight attendant has revealed a part of the plane that is often less clean than you might hope – and revealed what you should do to ensure you have a germ-free flight
A flight attendant has revealed the part of the plane that is “never” cleaned as she shared a simple hygiene tip.
Cierra Mistt is a former cabin crew member who shares flying hacks on TikTok. Boasting more than three million followers, it’s safe to say Cierra’s advice has proven popular online.
Now she has revealed some things airline passengers “should know” about travelling by plane which often goes unsaid. “Here’s some things that passengers should know that flight attendants and pilots don’t talk about – until now, that is,” she said.
“While it is true that cleaners do come on most flights after passengers are done getting off the plane, they don’t do a deep clean like you might think they do.”
Cierra went on to say there were some parts of the plane that were more thoroughly scrubbed than others. She said on her airline, passengers were given wet wipes when they boarded and recommended the best place to use them.
“The only things they [the cleaners] really deep cleaned are the tray tables and seatbelts. […] If I were you, instead of wiping down that tray table and seat they just cleaned, I would use that wipe to clean off the window you are sitting next to because, just like the bathroom floor, those things have never been cleaned either.”
People were quick to comment with their thoughts, with one writing: “I’m wiping down the seat, table, windows, wall, arm rest…lol.” Another added: “Petri dish in the ski.”
Meanwhile a third chimed in: “I always have Clorox wipes with me. I wipe down the seat, headrest, tray table, tv if there’s one, window, armrest, seatbelt. I clean the bathroom too,” and a fourth added: “thank you for the information.”
Meanwhile others were confused to learn about Cierra’s airline handing out wet wipes. “Never been offered any wipes-” one wrote.
Another added: “What airlines offer the wipes??? I’ve never gotten offered one in my history of flying.”
A third agreed: “What wipes? I’ve never been given any.”
