Bus driver arrested after two children rushed to hospital following Bexleyheath crash

Siblings, aged 5 and 9, have been taken to hospital after being involved in a bus collision on a residential road in Bexleyheath. Police are appealing to the public for any information they might have about the incident.

The bus was involved in the collision with the two children, who are siblings, on the residential Watling Street, near the junction with Halcot Avenue, in Bexleyheath. Officers were called to the scene at 9.05am today (August 3), with an ambulance also attending.

The nine-year-old girl was then taken to hospital, where her injuries are being treated as life-threatening. The five-year-old boy was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The male bus driver was arrested and has been taken into police custody where he remains. The children had been with a family member at the time and officers are providing support to their family.

Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not yet spoken with them, to call 101, quoting reference 2309/03Aug.
