Viral YouTuber Drew Binsky, who has travelled to more than 190 countries around the world, has dragged Brits and Aussies into a debate about obnoxious Americans in Europe
A globe-trotting tourist has found the key link between Americans and Brits abroad.
Of course, we have a lot in common with our friends across the pond: we speak the same language (with a few rogue exceptions like chips and candy), love to go all out for Halloween, and are utterly obsessed with sports. But when it comes to travelling around Europe, Americans are often mocked for experiencing a huge culture shock.
They’re not used to dry sarcasm, lack of Starbucks, and European waiters’ blunt customer service. But avid traveller Drew Binsky, from America, who has been to every country in the world (yes, all 197 of them) has found one main similarity that reluctantly unites us together.
In a recent video titled ’20 Biggest Cultural Differences for Americans in Europe’, Drew said: “This one really makes me ashamed to be an American in Europe – why are we so loud obnoxious? Like, we have to scream when we come out of the bars at night and we have to be picking fights in bars and being like ‘oh America’.
“I just really don’t like this about American culture… I don’t know why we always have to be the loud guys [but] I think Brits and Ausssies are kind of similar in this regard.”
The YouTuber, who has amassed a whopping 4.4 million subscribers thanks to his travel videos, observed that Europeans are ‘much quieter’ and ‘more reserved’. “When you’re dining, people just don’t talk that loud,” Drew added. “They just keep to themselves, it’s kind of nice.”

Last year, a TikTok trend exposing loud Americans in Europe went viral – sparking wild debate in the comments section. “I know right, why are they so damn loud?” one person fumed.
Another agreed, commenting: “Every single thought that pops into their heads is said out loud.” A third added: “They narrate everything, and I mean everything,” while a fourth penned: “Volume always on 100.”
However, ticked-off Yanks quickly hit back, with one user fuming: “I’ve experienced people from Europe in the US acting the same way. I think some people are just super excited to be on vacation.” Another agreed, stating: “At least we’re having fun.”
