‘I’ve visited 18 European countries but these 4 left such a big impression on me’

One travel influencer has shared the top four countries that she will ‘be revisiting ASAP’ after travelling 18 countries in Europe – and France and Spain are not on the list

One well-travelled TikToker has shared the top four destinations that she “would go back to tomorrow without hesitation”. The video, which has received over 60,000 likes, lists the best destinations from her travellers to 18 European destinations.

The video comes from the TikTok account, nikkionherway, which regularly shares travel guides tips and destination reviews. According to the caption for the video, Nikki is asked frequently by followers where they should travel in Europe. While she confirms each destination has something to offer, there are four European countries she would recommend anyone visit are – in no particular order – Scotland, Slovenia, Italy and Iceland.

Scotland

In Nikki’s words, “Scotland, this country stole my heart”. She goes on to say that it “magical” and “mystical” and that there are not many places she has been that have managed to move her emotionally the way Scotland has.

Nikki highlights one destination in the country in particular: the Isle of Skye. “There’s something so special about this place that feels like home,” she explains in the video. Her audio description rolls against images of cobbled streets in Scotland to a wintry road to waterside sunset views.

Nikki says even though she visited in winter, during the off-season when the days are shorter, it is still a great time to visit. Visiting during this time is also more affordable, she confirms.

Slovenia

“I cannot stop yapping about this small country that packs such a large punch when it comes to what it offers” begins Nikki’s review of Slovenia. “Crystal-clear lakes, beautiful mountains, coastline, good food, nice accommodations, clean, beautiful cities – I just love it” she continues.

In her caption, Nikki describes Slovenia as “unexpected” and has shared multiple TikTok videos highlighting her travels to the country. One such journey includes a solo trip she took to Ljubljana that included a day trip to Postojna Caves and “burek for breakfast”.

Italy

Nikki admits that it “sounds like a cliché answer” to name Italy as a top destination in Europe but that “there is a reason Italy is the most visited country in the world every year”. While France is actually visited more according to statistics from the World Population Review, Italy does appear high on the list.

Nikki shares her review of Italy alongside footage of her travels around the country, showcasing marble statues, sunset by the water and a full plate of pasta. “I’ve seen some of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy, tried some of the best food and had some of my favourite days in all my travels,” she says.

“And there’s so much variety,” Nikki continues. “In the north you have the Alps, in the south you have places like Sicily and between all of it is tons and tons of history and beautiful architecture. It’s just incredible. It truly speaks for itself.”

Iceland

Nikki says that while her trip to Iceland was short, “all it did was make us go back immediately.” She lists and documents a variety of experiences she had in her short time that she is ready to recreate.

Some of which include seeing the Northern Lights and whales (potentially orca whales), walking on glaciers and visiting hot springs, and even eating Icelandic hotdogs. According to Nikki, “both summer and winter have a lot to offer” and she writes in her caption “Iceland begs to be explored”.
