Tommy Fury has given a glimpse into his close bond with his daughter Bambi, following a year he described as the “worst” of his life in a recent interview. The 26-year-old boxer appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (7 April), where he discussed his upcoming fight against Bosnian Kenan Hanjalic, his first since 2023.

During the chat with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, Tommy candidly spoke about falling into a “dark place” after a hand injury halted his boxing career and required surgery.

He also took the chance to express his love for two year old Bambi, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague.

“Yes, I’ve just got off the phone with her now. Speak to Bambi all the time, she’s everything to me. I love her so much. If Bambi’s watching this, Bambi, Daddy loves you!” said Tommy, blowing a kiss to the camera.

Despite describing 2023 as the “best” year of his life due to his daughter’s birth, he confessed that the subsequent year was the “worst”.

Reflecting on his injury period, Tommy admitted: “I thought sod it all. You go down a route for a few weeks, and you end up staying there for a long time.”

However, the boxer is now feeling hopeful and is eager to return to the boxing ring on Friday (9 April), reports OK!.

Tommy revealed his optimistic outlook, saying: “This year will be the best year of my life. And it starts on Friday. I am happy mentally now. I have come through it, I am on the other side.”

Last year, Tommy and Molly-Mae, 26, surprised their fans by announcing that they had separated. The pair originally met on Love Island in 2019, where they finished as runners-up.

After the show, Tommy and Molly-Mae’s relationship seemed to flourish; they moved in together in Manchester shortly after the show.

Early in 2023, they welcomed their daughter Bambi into the world, and not long after, Tommy popped the question and the two then started planning their wedding.

Despite their effort to maintain privacy about their breakup, both Tommy and Molly have shared that Tommy’s lifestyle of drinking and partying contributed to strains in their relationship, which lasted five years.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV1
