Viewers were left baffled after an ‘easy’ question left one Chaser floored.
ITV’s cult-favourite programme The Chase has hooked Brits for years, as everyday contestants work together to defeat the powerful brainboxes that seem to know pretty much everything. Paul Sinha, aka The Sinnerman, is arguably one of the toughest Chasers to beat and is a true force to be reckoned with.
However, the expert quizzer had a fall from grace after getting the answer to an equestrian-themed question wrong. Host Bradley Walsh described the rare sight as ‘inexplicable’ – but would you have gotten it right?
During the cash builder round in the 2017 episode, contestant Carole went head-to-head with Sinha, where she accepted a controversial offer of -£1,000 to secure her seat in the final.
Here, Carole was asked: “Which riding style has the rider sitting with both feet on the same side of the horse?” The answer options were A) Hunt seat, B) Side saddle and C) Saddle Seat. The contestant locked in her answer confidently and ended up getting it right. However, the Chaser had opted for a wrong answer, causing the audience to gasp.

“The Chaser got it wrong,” Walsh said in utter shock, “I find this inexplicable.” Of course, the correct answer was C) Saddle seat. Sulking about his temporary defeat, Sinha said: “I didn’t know it. Used chiefly by women Bradley, I’ve never used side saddle in my life.”
The team went on to win £6,300 on the show – carried mainly by contest Darragh who managed to answer 14 out of the 19 questions correctly in the final round. All of the other contestants accepted minus offers, which riled viewers.
“The Chase roll call of shame!” fumed on viewer. “Worst most devious players in the show’s history.” Another agreed, commenting: “That episode of The Chase will be repeated on BBC1 as Crimewatch.” While a third added: “[It’s] the first time I’ve actually rooted for the chaser. It was the most frustrating epsiode I’ve ever seen.”
The Chase: The Bloopers airs on ITV at 8pm on Sunday, March 24.
