Police name third man charged after houses linked to Keir Starmer set on fire

A third man has been charged by police after houses linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer were set on fire. Petro Pochynok, 34 , a Ukrainian national who lives in North London, is accused of a conspiracy to commit arson alongside Roman Lavrynovych and Stanislav Carpiuc.

He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Wednesday, May 21. The charge relates to three fires which took place between May 8 and May 12.

On May 12 a house in Kentish Town owned by Keir Starmer was torched by arsonists. Four days earlier on May 8, a car on the same street was set alight. On May 11, the front door of an Islington apartment building linked to the Prime Minister was damaged by fire.

Pochynok was tracked down in the Chelsea area and arrested on May 19 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. As part of the same investigation, fellow Ukrainian Roman Lavrynovych 21, of Sydenham, was charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

He will appear next at the Old Bailey on June 6. Stanislav Carpiuc, a Romanian living in Romford has also been charged with conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. The 26-year-old will appear at the Old Bailey on the same date.
