A debate has erupted about whether it is right to enjoying Yorkshire puddings for dessert after a woman was stunned by her husband’s sweet treat after Sunday dinner
Roast dinners are a sacred topic in the UK, with debates raging on whether Yorkshire puddings should be allowed or how much gravy is too much.
There are set essentials when having a roast and straying too far can cause outrage among devoted fans. One man has taken things a step too far with his unusual way of enjoying a Yorkshire pudding – his wife said she has considered “divorce” after realising what he does.
Not only does the man put a sweet sauce on his Yorkshire pudding, he enjoys them as a dessert. Taking to Reddit his baffled wife said: “Just spent three hours making Sunday dinner and for desert my husband has put jam on a Yorkshire pudding! Divorce?”
She shared a picture of her husband holding a Yorkshire pudding, with a dollop of jam in its centre. While she seemed less than impressed, their dog appeared keen to get his hands on it.
The controversial Yorkshire pudding has sparked a great debate online – with some saying they are “outraged” and dub adding jam to a Yorkshire pudding as “offensive”. However, the Reddit poster’s confession about her husband revealed there are a lot of people who like adding sweet sauces to their Yorkshires – from ice cream to golden syrup.
One Reddit user said: “My cousins eat it, and I for one find it the most disgusting thing to ever leave a scorn on my life.” “I didn’t know this was a thing until now and honestly I could’ve lived happily not knowing it,” added another unimpressed individual.
But one individual said: “My nan would always bang on about how good Yorkshire puddings are with jam and when she was little that’s how they ate them, not how we eat them now. Tried it for myself and she’s right, they’re so good with jam.”
“I drizzle mine in honey,” confessed another. One other defended the jam Yorkshire pudding eater, and said: “Perfectly reasonable behaviour. Try stewed apple.” “I used to have them with golden syrup when I was a nipper,” added another.
One other wrote: “Yorkshire pudding for pudding is totally normal and really good. My mum would make a massive Yorkshire pudding and everyone would have a slice with golden syrup. I want one now.”
