Man arrested at Heathrow charged with murder after pedestrian hit by car in East London

A man arrested at Heathrow Airport after a pedestrian was hit with a car in East London has been named for the first time after being charged with murder. Trevelle Rowland, 33, of Cornelia Street, Islington, is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, March 26).

An investigation was launched after the Met was called at 5.11am on Sunday (March 24) to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Barking Road, East Ham, near to the junction with Arragon Road.

Officers responded and provided first aid to a 35-year-old man, who was found injured at the scene. But, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he died a short time later.

A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police are satisfied that the man is Fergany Mvuezolo, who was from the East London area. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

“Urgent enquiries were carried out and at around 3.05pm on Sunday, March 24, a man was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of murder. He was later charged as above.

“A 30-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail. Anyone who can help us is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1281/24Mar. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
