Meghan Markle has shared a loving photo of herself and her daughter Lilibet to celebrate her fourth birthday. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rarely share photos of their children or allow them to appear in public to protect their privacy.

The caption of the photo reads: “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”

The photo shows the mother and daughter cuddling on a boat. She also shared a photo of Lilibet as a new born snuggled up on Meghan’s chest.

The couple rarely share photos of their children for safety and protection reasons. A family friend told Us Weekly “I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t.”

They added: “William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable. And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [them, but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”

Harry recently lost an appeal with the High Court to be given the same degree of publicly funded protective security, provided by the police, when in Great Britain. This comes after he and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties. Security will now be provided for them on a case-by-case basis rather than blanket protection.
