Noel Gallagher’s luxurious red 1997 Bentley Turbo R is up for sale at a whopping £1.2 million. The hefty price tag on the car, which is being advertised on Auto Trader, comes with its celebrity heritage, having been owned by the 58-year-old Oasis guitarist and singer who famously gave up on driving lessons after an incident involving a crowd of kids while trying to park near a school during a lesson—an anecdote he shared with Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show.

Auto Trader’s editorial director Erin Baker commented on the listing: “Cars listed by music legends don’t come around very often, and Noel Gallagher’s Bentley Turbo R is certainly one for the Auto Trader history books.” Baker predicted that the vehicle would appeal widely: “With over 80 million visits to Auto Trader every month, we expect this rock ‘n’ roll ride to strike a chord with music lovers and car collectors alike.”

Adding to its unique appeal, the car boasts the custom number plate ‘OASI6 2’, a nod to Gallagher’s iconic Britpop band Oasis, who have announced they will be reuniting for a series of UK and Ireland gigs later this year, including performances at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium in July, August and September.

Despite not holding a driving licence, Gallagher found himself penalised by the courts in April 2023; he had to fork out a £1,000 fine and received six penalty points for not informing the police about who was behind the wheel of his Range Rover when it was caught exceeding the speed limit on a stretch of the A40 in Edgware Road, West London.

Noel Gallagher has amusingly recollected his single attempt at a driving lesson back in the 1990s, sharing the anecdote with Ball in 2023: “I have had one driving lesson in the 90s and I was driving round a housing estate in Slough and she (the instructor) said to me, ‘if you just indicate and pull over here’ then I pulled over.”

Laughing, he relayed what happened next: “She got out the car she said, ‘I’ll be back in a minute’, she came out with her mum, she drove me to her house.” But the experience quickly became overwhelming as Noel described: “Then the local comprehensive bell went and they all came out. This is at the height of Oasis-mania and I was like, ‘never, never again’.”
