A Crawley man who violently attacked two men with pool cues in separate pub attacks has been jailed. Luke Boughey left one man with a bleed to the brain during an assault at the town’s White Hart Pub on Crawley High Street in August 2022, having fallen out over a game of pool.

The 46-year-old, of Stephenson Way, in Three Bridges, then struck again at the Brewers Pub in Burgess Hill three months later. This time, he broke a man’s cheek bone in three places after hitting him in the face as he spoke to a friend.

Boughey was found guilty of two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent following a week-long trial at Hove Crown Court last March. He was handed a total of nine years behind bars during a hearing at the same court on May 9.

The judge told the court his two sentences, four years and five years, respectively, will be served consecutively.

‘Violence will not be tolerated’

DC Ellie Mannan, from the Crawley Investigations Team at Sussex Police, said: “This was a shocking and violent pattern of behaviour that left two individuals with serious injuries.

“Violence of this nature will not be tolerated in our communities, and we hope this sentence brings some justice to the victims involved.”
