London’s rainy spell looks set to finally end next week with one forecaster predicting sunny skies and temperatures higher than Portugal. A new map from Netweather shows the capital will enjoy a balmy 27C during the afternoon of Friday, June 13.
This will be warmer than Porto and Faro, which will be 23C and 26C, respectively. The peak is hitting at 1pm and last around six hours, with light clouds appearing at sunset.
The morning will also be relatively warm, reaching 24C before lunchtime. BBC Weather mostly agrees, but anticipates a high of just 24C at 4pm. However, it may not be time for sunbathing just yet as it’s probably going to be fairly windy.
London will see gusts of 18mph between 10am and 7pm before things calm down to 13mph just before 10pm. On the plus side, the entirety of next week will (hopefully) be over 20C during the day.
Monday, June 9 is kicking things off at 20C, with temperatures gradually building by 7C by late-Friday. Saturday, June 14 will also be 27C, according to the BBC, and temperatures will stay comfortably at 24C-25C for the next six days.
Whilst the Met Office foresees a high of only 24C this Friday, the weather authority concurs a ‘hot spell’ is on the way. It’s UK long-range forecast for June 12 – June 21 states this period is likely to be ‘very warm’ but ‘unsettled’.
It reads: “Some showers and thunderstorms are likely to affect most parts but there will also be some sunshine. Over the weekend and into the start of the following week, most parts will become drier.
“However, there may be another brief spell of rain with a risk of some thunderstorms, before high pressure more firmly builds in from the west. The rest of the following week looks like being mainly dry with variable cloud and some sunshine and often warm or very warm.”
High pressure will continue the warm weather into the week beginning June 22, with temperatures to be a ‘little above average overall’. Don’t put the umbrella away just yet though as brief spells of rain are expected, some of which could be heavy and thundery.
