A woman and her mum tried the lasagne, but people couldn’t believe how much it cost them, and in the video, they shared that they thought it was a good portion for the price
Lasagne is a firm favourite comfort meal for many, thanks to the creamy béchamel sauce and the layers of tasty meat. But how much would you be prepared to pay for one that wasn’t eaten in a restaurant? Of course, when you’re sitting down to dine, you may be happy to fork out a little more for the time and effort put into it.
But people were stunned at the price one woman paid for a Harrods takeaway lasagne. Laura Khoshaba, who often tries new foods on TikTok, picked up the meal, leaving some viewers asking: “How do you afford it all?”
Laura and her mum Ann tried the Harrods lasagne, paying a whopping £12 for a single portion. The purchase left some confused about who is actually buying the pricey pasta on a regular basis. With an Asda beef lasagne costing just £1 in the Just Essentials range, it begs the question of why you’d pay so much.
As Laura pulled the lid off, she said that she’d never had it before, as she revealed the contents of the cardboard bowl.
She said: “That looks really good,” and her mum gushed that it smelled “really good as well”. Laura also praised the lasagne for being a “good portion”. But for £12, some may disagree.
Both Laura and Ann said they love lasagne, so they were hoping it wouldn’t disappoint. And thankfully, they weren’t left feeling ripped off.
“Oh wow,” Ann gushed, as Laura pointed out that she liked the fact it was “shredded beef” rather than minced beef.
Ann shared that she once had to send back the lasagne in Harrods’ restaurant because she thought it was “awful,” but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the takeaway one was.
“This is a million times better,” Laura said, as Ann went “mmm” in the background.
The pair couldn’t stop taking forkfuls of the yummy meal – and Ann said she thought it was a “decent size” for the £12 price tag.
Ann said: “No, it’s really good. The sauce is really good and the meat is tender. Yeah, I’d get this again, definitely. I would recommend”.
At the end of the video, Laura said that her rating of the £12 lasagne was “10 out of 10”.
In the comments, people left their personal recommendations for the pair to try. Someone wrote: “M&S Gastropub Slow Cooked Beef & Cornish Cove Rarebit Lasagne Main for Two – try this, also contains a pulled beef, super tasty £10.50 for two people.”
Another suggestion was: “This is not a criticism, but it would be great to see you and your mum reviewing food from independent, small businesses. Big fan by the way!”
“I’d be happy to pay £12 because it does look very nice,” someone defended the meal, while another praised Laura, writing: “You manage to look so elegant when you’re eating!”
