The emergency services are dealing with separate incidents around Whitehall with police investigating an abandoned vehicle as well as a coach crash on Wednesday afternoon (June 11). The severity of the person’s injuries in the coach crash are unknown but MyLondon has been told of reports of someone being trapped underneath the coach with a witness describing ‘chaos’ in the area.
The collision happened on Abingdon Street, a stone’s throw from Parliament Square and left London bus route 3 on diversion. Footage shared on X – formerly Twitter – shows the air ambulance as having landed on Parliament Square.
The Met Police’s Westminster team posted on X at 2.52pm: “A cordon is in place at the southern end of Whitehall as a precautionary measure while officers investigate an abandoned vehicle in the vicinity of Downing Street. It is not linked to a separate road traffic collision involving a coach and a pedestrian in nearby Abingdon Street.”
The Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for more information.
