Urgent hunt for knife gang after man, in 20s, stabbed in ‘group attack’ in South East London

Police are hunting a knife gang after a man was stabbed in South East London. The victim, a man in his 20s, was allegedly attacked by a group of men in Plumstead Road, Woolwich, just before 9pm on last night (Friday, June 13).

The man was rushed to hospital where he is expected to make a recovery. This morning police said no arrests had been made and they are urgently trying to find the suspects.

Photos posted on social media last night show there was a police cordon behind the bus stops on Victory Parade in front of Sam’s Chicken and the Public Market building.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Around 20:45hrs on Friday, 13 June, officers responded following reports that a man had been attacked by a group of men in Plumstead Road, Woolwich.

“A man in his 20s was treated at the scene for multiple stab injuries, and was taken to hospital. His condition has been assessed as non-life-threatening, and we await further updates on his condition.

“No arrests have been made, and officers are making urgent enquiries to locate the suspects.

“Anybody who witnessed the incident – or who has information – should contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference 8162/13JUN.”
