A man has shared his shock after his ‘entitled’ neighbour treated his garden like their own private dog park. He shared how the cheeky neighbour walked into his garden so that their pooch could have a run about and let off some energy, completely unannounced.

The bewildered man ask the neighbour why he wasn’t using his own garden instead. He said on Reddit: “Last weekend, my neighbour just let himself into my backyard. Didn’t call, didn’t knock, just opened the gate and walked in with his dog like it was no big deal. “The dog ran straight into my garden, knocked over a pot, and crushed a few of my seedling I’d just planted.

“I asked him why though that was okay. He literally said, ‘It’s just yard. If your plants are delicate, maybe don’t leave them out’.

“Then followed it up with, “Your yard’s always empty. I thought you wouldn’t care.”

After demanding the neighbour get out of his garden and insisting he ask permission to use it in the future, the homeowner recounted that his neighbour just scoffed and mumbled about him being overdramatic.

Putting an end to any further impromptu visits, the disgruntled chap remarked: “Now I keep the gate locked.”

Reddit users pitched in with advice, with one recommending: “Get cameras to watch your backyard and its entry. He’ll be back for sure.”

Another user added: “Call police and make a report now to start the documentation process.

“Next time have him formally trespassed if he comes into your property again. After that, it’s a Law Enforcement issue.”

A third user said: “That’s so irritating. When I was a kid in the 80s a cop moved in next door with his family. Worst neighbours.

“This was so long ago we left the doors unlocked. His kids would walk right into our house, raid the fridge, and go into the living room and turn on the TV and watch cartoons. Not even knock or anything.

“We’d just wake up to a home with random kids. My parents tried talking to him about it and he pulled the cop card and said his kids could do what they wanted.

“We obviously started locking the doors. Then they would open the gate and let our dogs out of the backyard. Multiple times we had to pay the pound to get the dogs back after they ran off. So we had to lock that, too. Such trash people.”

One more user added: “There’s a gate for a reason. You chose to open my gate and let your dog run all over. If it’s just a yard, keep the damn dog in your own yard.”
