Lovers of British biscuit Jammie Dodger have gone online to share news about a fresh flavour after spotting it on supermarket shelves. It seems like many of them can’t wait to get their hands on it
Fans of popular biscuit Jammie Dodgers are in for a treat, as a new flavour has been spotted at Sainsbury’s.
Lovers of the British biscuit, which is made from shortbread and comes with a jam filling, have gone online to share news about the fresh flavour after spotting it on supermarket shelves. It seems like many of them can’t wait to get their hands on it, with some rushing to shops buy it, while others are pleading with friends to bag them a packet.
The new flavour was spotted by popular food account New Foods UK, which shared a photo of the Cherry flavour Jammie Dodgers on its Facebook page.
It simply wrote: “New Cherry flavour Jammie Dodgers spotted at Sainsbury’s,” followed by both a shocked and love eyes emoji.
The post quickly caught people’s attention as it racked up hundreds of likes. One person exclaimed: “I need to try!”
While another admitted: “This is right up my street.”
A third asked a pal: “Can you get me some of these when you’re next in Sainsbury’s?”
While a fourth overseas fan added: “I need a friend in UK so we can send stuff back and forth to try.”
Someone else who had already tried the biscuits out also gave their review, writing: “These taste like cherry pie.”
Others also pointed out that the biscuits, which are usually 90p, are currently half-price in Sainsbury’s, so cost just 45p a packet.
Jammie Dodgers, which have been around since 1960, usually come in a strawberry or raspberry flavour, however you can also buy an apple and blackcurrant variety, as well as a ‘really fruit’ strawberry flavour which comes with a pink biscuit.
Alongside the standard packs, mini versions of the raspberry and apple and blackcurrant flavours are also on-sale and you can even buy a giant raspberry Jammie Dodger if you’re feeling hungry.
The news of the new flavour comes after other biscuit fans spotted a new McVitie’s Digestive flavour on shelves too. Foodies have been left excited about the Pink Raspberry & Cream flavour Digestives, also on sale at Sainsbury’s.
The new limited edition product is part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Chocolate Digestives and is a “fruity reinvention, now topped with a smooth raspberry and cream flavour coating.”
