London temperatures are set to soar to 32C as a mini heatwave looks set to hit the capital. The weekend is forecast to bring glorious sunshine as Londoners can be expected to head out to the capital’s parks and green spaces in droves.
It is set to become increasingly warm over the next couple of weeks as Summer in London gets into full swing. Temperatures will peak at around 32C over the weekend making for perfect barbeque weather.
But how hot exactly does it have to be for things to count as a heatwave? According to BBC weather, temperatures need to reach a certain threshold temperature around the UK for three consecutive days on the trot.
That number varies from 25C across the north and west of the UK, to 28C in parts of the east, including London. So, we can officially say there is going to be a heatwave here in the capital at the end of June.
Tomorrow (Thursday, June 19) will see things reach a warm 29C, before taking a slight dip the next day (Friday, June 20) to 27C. The weekend will see things get even hotter on Saturday, June 21 which will reach 32C.
A Met Office weather forecast says: “Friday will see some patches of cloud through the day, but generally it is expected to be dry and sunny. Through Saturday and Sunday, it is expected to be dry and settled with prolonged periods of sunshine as high pressure remains in control over the weather.
“It may be breezy at times, particularly on Saturday. A warm to very warm period, locally hot on Saturday and Sunday.”
Things will continue to stay warm over the weekend before taking a slight dip to 27C on Monday, June 23. Temperatures are set to remain around the mid to high twenties mark until the beginning of July.
Most of the days will see glorious sunshine, although some cloud will also be present to offer relief from the sweltering heat.
