A pair of thieves assaulted a man after snatching a phone on an Overground train last month. All three were travelling on the Mildmay line towards Canonbury station just before midnight on May 27 when two of the men approached another passenger.
They grabbed his phone before fleeing from the train. A 41-year-old man who was disembarking at the same time was also assaulted. The British Transport Police (BTP) is now appealing for the public’s help in identifying those responsible. The force has released CCTV images of two men they believe could important to the investigation.
They show two young Black men wearing dark clothing. One appears to have longer hair and is wearing a beanie, whilst the other has short hair and a baseball cap.
Anyone who recognises them is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 246 of 28 May 2025. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
