Next week, Prince William is gearing up for an intensive string of Royal commitments to mark London Climate Action Week. As the President and Founder of The Earthshot Prize and the driving force of The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife, The Prince of Wales, 42, has a packed itinerary focussed on initiatives enriching nature and combating climate change.

Kicking off his engagements at the high-profile climate event is Prince William’s participation in the “Leading With Impact” session on June 24, under the banner of The Earthshot Prize and Bloomberg Philanthropies. This celebration aims to put a spotlight on the remarkable endeavours of the Earthshot Prize Finalists of 2024, shining a light on collaborative efforts to magnify and accelerate the pace of climate solutions.

There, William is due to meet Michael R. Bloomberg, the visionary behind Bloomberg Philanthropies and a pivotal advisor to The Earthshot Prize Winners, followed by taking part in a workshop with the Earthshot Prize Finalists of 2024. At the workshop, the prince will gain insights into the strides made by the finalists and what they aspire to achieve in the future.

Prince William is also set to join an onstage discussion with Robert Irwin, The Rt Hon Dame Jacinda Ardern, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and Trustee of the Earthshot Prize, and Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. They will reflect on the success of The Prize so far and their ambitions for its future, with Bloomberg Philanthropies and Uber playing key roles as Global Alliance Founding Partners of The Earthshot Prize, reports the Express.

His next engagement is scheduled for 26 June, where he will attend a high-level roundtable titled ‘Nature’s Guardians: On the Road to COP30 & Beyond’, at St James’s Palace.

As the Founder of The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife programme, the prince will engage in crucial discussions with government leaders, philanthropic institutions, representatives from Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

The focus will not only be on future actions but also on celebrating the vital role Indigenous Peoples and local communities play in protecting nature and achieving climate goals.

Kensington Palace has announced that the Prince will meet key attendees before delivering opening remarks at the start of the session. The Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Marina Silva, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change of Brazil, are expected to be present.

For his concluding appearance at London Climate Action Week, the Prince is set to attend ‘Investing for Impact’ on 26 June at the Guildhall. The event, hosted by The Earthshot Prize, will spotlight success stories from the Prize and provide a platform for potential investors to engage with environmental solutions.

Why won’t Kate be there?

Princess Kate is not anticipated to accompany her husband to any of these events this year. This is due to the fact that the Duchess, aged 43, seldom joins William for his environmental engagements, which are among his personal key Royal initiatives.

Earlier this week, Kate made headlines by not appearing at Royal Ascot, citing a need to ‘balance her return to public life’ following her cancer diagnosis last year.
