A Met cop shoved another driver during a morning road rage. A panel heard that at around 8.30am on March 20 2023 PC Duncan Bouette, driving a silver Ford, boxed in his victim ‘Mr Z’, on Hampton Street, Stansted, Essex.

Mr Z honked his horn to get his attention, but instead of moving, the off-duty cop jumped out his silver Ford, tapped on Mr Z’s window and allegedly said “get out of the car!” and “what do you think you’re doing? You don’t know who you’re messing with”.

After they continued arguing Bouette got back in his and refused to move. Mr Z then walked towards Bouette’s car and began filming.

Mr Z was heard saying “be very careful” leading Bouette to say “are you threatening me?” and getting out of his car before pushing Mr Z in the chest.

At this stage neighbours had overheard the arguing, and Ms P claimed she heard Bouette say “f****” more than once.

Bouette accepted he’d pushed Mr Z, but says it was only a ‘light push’ to protect him and his daughter, who was in the car.

He added that in hindsight he should have driven off and conceded he would act differently in future should he find himself in a similar situation again.

The panel, lead by Commander Andy Brittain, found Bouette guilty of ‘unlawfully assaulting’ Mr Z, amounting to gross misconduct. He will have a final written warning on his record for three years.

The panel also found the push was not racially motivated.
