Man shot on East London industrial estate following ‘disturbance’ with gunman still at large

The gunman at the centre of a shooting in Chadwell Heath earlier this morning is still at large, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed. A man in his 30s was injured following a disturbance in the industrial area of Selinas Lane just after 3.30am today (Monday, June 23).

A woman, also in her 30s, was treated for a non-life-threatening head injury. Both are now recovering in hospital, with the gunshot victim said to be in a stable condition.

A large group was seen dispersing from the scene as police arrived, according to a statement issued this afternoon. A cordon remains in place at the junction of Selinas Lane and Coppen Road as officers continue to investigate.

No one has been arrested in connection as of yet and witnesses are urged to come forward. Anyone with information should contact 101, quoting 857/23JUN.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 03:32hrs on Monday, 23 June to reports of a disturbance on Selinas Lane, Dagenham. Officers attended and a large group were dispersing from the area.

“They discovered a man in his 30s suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

“A woman in her 30s was also taken to hospital suffering non-life threatening head injuries. A crime scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing. There have been no arrests at this stage.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.41am today (23 June) to reports of a shooting at the junction of Selinas Lane and Coppen Road, Dagenham. We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and paramedics from our tactical response unit.

“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. Our first paramedics arrived on scene in less than five minutes. We treated a man for a gunshot wound and a woman for a head injury before taking them to hospital.”
