A group of four helicopters have been seen hovering and circling over London with thousands of people tracking them on Flightradar24 as they follow the route along the River Thames and do loops around Central London.

The helicopters have caught the eye of people all over the city after setting off from Biggin Hill Airport reportedly at 11.14am on Thursday (July 3). One of them is registered as G-RYFF according to Flightradar24, which is understood to be privately owned. More than 2,000 people have been tracking this helicopter on its journey.

The group of four have been spotted doing loops around Greenwich Park and then following the route of the Thames to do multiple loops around the City of London before hovering over the Isle of Dogs and around Cutty Sark. The helicopter registered as G-RYFF has most recently been spotted heading over New Addington in Croydon, potentially heading back to Biggin Hill.

One curious spotter posted on social media: “Why are there so many helicopters over Isle of Dogs/ Cutty Sark? Update: They have all just left and are heading towards central London.”

On Reddit threads a helicopter with the same registration G-RYFF has been noted as appearing in The Gentlemen on Netflix as well as featuring in a James Bond film and an episode of Clarkson’s Farm. Today it has been reported that two of the helicopters have ball cameras on and are filming the two without which suggests they are involved in filming a TV show or film.

Adding to this suggestion, in reply to someone asking about the helicopters one person on social media said: “There is film work at Greenwich pier today so probably that.”
