A pizzeria with the ‘best slices in the UK’ is opening its first brick-and-mortar shop in East London next month. Bad Boys Pizza Society (BBPS) will welcome customers to Bethnal Green Road on Friday, August 1 – weeks after launching a fundraiser to make the dream a reality.
Set up by four university friends back in 2018, the award-winning brand has enjoyed various residencies across London, from big hitters Seven Dials Market and Vinegar Yard to Tulse Hill favourite The Railway Tavern. Now, the boys are putting on the finishing touches and planning a huge launch weekend.
Posting on social media to 23,000 followers, they said: “Oven lands tomorrow. Extraction’s going in this week. It’s getting real.
“No doubt there will be teething problems, but let’s throw ourselves in the deep end…Pull up, bring your mates, let’s make it a big one.”
The foursome will be serving up 22 inchers and single slices, including the Sausage Party, which saw them named Pizza of the Year at the National Pizza Awards 2024. They’re no stranger to this accolade either, having previously won in 2022 with their innovative Pepperoni alla Vodka.
There will also be small plates and sides like ‘chicken vodka parms’, ‘giant Caesar sharers’ and ‘fluffy Sicilian squares’ on offer. The drinks menu will see the launch of BBPS’s house lager, as well as wines, local beers and shots.
To kick things off, the pizzeria will be doing 50 per cent off pizzas and giving out free beer between August 1 and Sunday, August 3. This is for walk ins and will be available on a first come, first served basis.
BBPS has come a long way since their humble beginnings in Southampton, with co-founder Sam Clowes confirming the excitement is very real.
He said: “Having our own space means full creative control and the ability to build a place that feels like home for us and our customers. We’ve spent a lot of time getting everything right – from the pizza dough to the design of the space – and we can’t wait for people to walk in and feel like they’re part of the society.”
