Finding a quiet spot to properly connect with nature in London can be tricky during the summer, but a new secret lavender garden in Epsom promises exactly that.
Mayfield Lavender, known for its iconic fields in Banstead, Surrey, has launched a more intimate and peaceful experience in nearby Epsom. The newly opened Secret Lavender Garden welcomes a limited number of visitors per session, making it a truly tranquil retreat.
Just under an hour from Central London, the site offers a countryside escape with four massive fields of fragrant lavender, a 500-tree orchard, and wildlife sightings. From grazing horses to buzzing bees, it’s a sensory day out perfect for nature lovers.

We visited and it felt like it was just us and the lavender. We explored hidden paths, lounged by the orchard and admired the views from a quiet hilltop where the London skyline peeks through the trees.
There’s even a field set aside for bird-watching and a scenic spot ideal for popping the question. Whether you’re snapping photos or soaking in the silence, it’s a rare chance to unwind in near solitude.
Visitors can bring their own food or pre-order a handcrafted hamper to enjoy a picnic in the garden. You’ll have 2.5 hours to relax and eat, either on a picnic blanket or at one of the garden’s outdoor tables.
The experience doesn’t end there. The on-site Glasshouse Café serves lavender-inspired drinks and light bites, with afternoon teas and brunch options inside a beautiful greenhouse setting.
You can also browse the gift and plant shop for Mayfield’s own lavender oil, perfume and products. We tried the lavender lemonade and it’s delicious and as refreshing as it sounds.
Timed entry slots run daily from 9am to 7pm, with each session capped at just 40 to 60 people. Entry starts at £10 per adult, with premium ‘Sunset Special’ sessions running 7pm – 9.30pm from July 5 on Thursdays to Sundays.
Children aged 5–11 can enter for £5, while under-fives go free. Advance booking is cheaper than on-the-day prices and includes free parking for pre-booked guests.
The Secret Lavender Garden is open until August 24, and early booking is advised due to limited availability. Mayfield’s original Banstead site is just 10 minutes away, making it easy to enjoy both locations in one day.
You can find the Secret Lavender Garden at 139 Reigate Rd (near Driftbridge Audi Garage), Epsom KT17 3DW. It’s open every day from 9 am to 7 pm. You can book a timed slot through their website.
