Our new Simba Hybrid mattress is perfect for couples and in the Easter sale – it gives us a better night’s sleep tenfold

After a stint of sleepless nights, backache and tiresome days- my partner and I came to the conclusion we needed a new mattress. While visiting various local mattress stores, we narrowed it down to some pretty awesome options- but we found this particular one online was the ideal choice for us

It would be great to find a perfect mattress for a couple wouldn’t it? I mean, ticking both boxes for different comfort levels, firmness and generally one we can both agree on.

There are so many variations of a ‘comfortable’ mattress- but it all depends on personal preference. We for instance both suffer with back pains quite a lot and more often than not have always found that we need the firmness but let’s face it, we still want to be comfortable.

We visited our local Dreams but it came down to trusting the internet for our final choice – and we are so glad we bit the bullet and went to one of our most trusted mattress brands – Simba.

Not forgetting, Simba have also launched some fantastic Easter deals- so you can pick up the Hybrid Luxe for much less.

Neither of us would benefit from one that you sink into like you are floating on a cloud, the firmer the better- so we got straight to it and headed to our local mattress store.

Dreams had some incredibly comfortable options but, we were just wary from testing them in store that they would either be ‘too firm’ or ‘too soft’, (we have come to realise that we are quite fussy when it comes to our bed… don’t even get me started on the amount of pillows we have gone through to find the perfect pillow for us both)!

Dreams, as our Reviews Writer Beth Shufflebotham has also found, stock the popular Tempur Original Elite Mattress, which, we found to be comfortable but the memory foam for us would be too soft. And, at that price we couldn’t risk that the ‘pressure-relieving synthetic foam’, memory foam, would be enough to end our sleepless night hiatus.

There were so many good quality mattresses available to test in store, with traditional spring, memory foam and pocket sprung mattresses- but to be quite honest, we found it a little overwhelming… there is so much to consider!

So, for us, the best bet was to give Simba a go- known for their hybrid mattresses which offer firmness but with a layer of comforting foam on top.

We ordered the Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress, which at £1,895 comes in at quite a hefty price BUT, we take our sleep very seriously in this house… our mattress needs to be right.

What are you paying for?

Once the mattress was out of the packaging, puffed up and good to go- we were excited (and extremely apprehensive), that we were finally going to get a better night’s sleep.

The morning after, my partner genuinely woke up and said, “I can’t believe on night one I’ve not woken up once in the night!”

As someone who has been really suffering with a bad back from our last mattress being WAY too soft, this was a huge step. This being said, we had to really dive deep into the mattress world for our best suited option- and the Simba Hybrid Luxe seemed to offer exactly what we were looking for. Baring in mind, the price tag is reflected in the layers in which offer the different levels of comfort.

There are three luxurious layers of springs- two layers of zoned, titanium alloy aerocoil micro springs for optimum pressure relief, PLUS another layer for optimum support- while the ‘Keep cool. Stay dry. Sleep deep” mattress is enhanced with a natural wool and bamboo layer that regulates body heat, and for even cooler nights, they are infused with graphite which is a natural heat conductor, helping excess warmth and humidity flow away from the body.

Simbatex® foam has a more open structure than standard memory foam, which gives it more elasticity and cushioning. But the Big Win is in the airflow department. Because that less dense, open-cell structure achieves more airflow. And more air in the mattress means more fresh for you.

Our thoughts

We have now slept on our brand spanking new mattress for just over a week… and what a week of sleep it has been.

It’s firm but so comfortable, we have noticed such a huge difference- and no tossing and turning all night has been the best. It has made it very clear to us just how firm we need our mattress, because even when we tried our mattress protector, it just wasn’t the same.

Would I change it given the opportunity? Nope, absolutely not. It seems that the hybrid is the perfect match for us. It’s heat regulating qualities have been a must for us, too (which we only realised with this new type)- our room is always so warm, so we definitely benefit from it’s cooling materials throughout the night.

One thing that we are going to make sure we do is follow our handy ‘keeping your mattress at it’s best guide’ from the lovely Simba team. You are reminded to rotate your mattress every month, then every 3 months and every 6 months after that- it’s a great way to alert shoppers to keep it as comfortable as possible for longer.

You can pick one up here on the Simba website reduced in the Easter Sale with a massive £462 off- it’s now £1,386.75 and you can also spread the cost for as low as £29 per month.
