A man has been arrested after a 24-year-old driver died in a horror crash in Beckton. Shortly before 8.30pm on Monday, June 30 a car travelling on the A13 smashed into a bollard and a tree, before overturning.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene near the junction with Noel Road, before the driver was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. He passed away five days after the crash on Saturday, July 5.
His family are being supported by specialist officers. A 27-year-old man was arrested the same day of the crash on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed while an accident investigation continues.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At 8.28pm on Monday, June 30 police were called to Noel Road at the junction with Newham Way, following a report of a vehicle colliding with a bollard and a tree, then overturning. Police attended the scene along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
“The man driving the car, a 24-year-old man, was taken to hospital but sadly died of his injuries on Saturday, 5 July. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A 27-year-old man was arrested that day on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
“He has been bailed pending further enquiries, which are ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist police, including any dash cam footage is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7957/30JUNE.”
