The family of a young man who was stabbed to death in Chingford has said the “brutal” attack has left them “destroyed.” Tyler Hayward, 26, died from his injuries at the scene after being stabbed in Chingford Mount Road on Sunday, July 6.

His family has said that the death of their “beautiful, caring son” has left a “heart-breaking void” in their lives. Over £11k has been raised through a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of Tyler’s funeral.

His father, Matthew Wilkin, shared on the GoFundMe page: “Tyler was humble and never asked for much. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hiking, playing football from time to time, and gaming with his friends.

“He was always friendly, always chatting with everyone around him. His presence brought light and now, he’s left behind a heart-breaking void in our lives.”

He added that funds raised will go toward funeral costs and honouring Tyler’s memory.

The GoFundMe continues: “Now I face the impossible: planning my son’s funeral, something no parent should ever have to do. I want to give Tyler the farewell he truly deserves.

“Funds will go toward covering funeral costs and honouring Tyler’s memory. Every donation, big or small, and every share helps me take a step closer to celebrating his short but beautiful life.”
