Sleeping London train passenger repeatedly punched by thug who threatened him for ‘making noise’

A man who fell asleep on a Southwestern train was brutally attacked after having water poured over him. The horrible assault happened on a train travelling from Surbiton to Basingstoke at some point between 11.40pm and just after midnight on Saturday, June 14, into Sunday, June 15 when a man was asleep on the train.

He had water poured over his feet, and as he woke up he made a noise. A man then threatened to punch him if he made the noise again, he was then assaulted and punched repeatedly.

Passengers tried to intervene but the victim got off at Walton-on-Thames and is thought to have left the train at Weybridge.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers think the pictured man can help the investigation. He is white, with a short back and sides, and longish hair on the front. He is also clean shaven.

Anyone with information, who recognises the man or who may have seen the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 04 of 15 June.
