A London weather map shows the exact day when things are set to heat up to 30C again after the Met Office issued an 18-hour thunderstorm warning for the capital tomorrow (Monday, July 21).. The capital is set to be hit by storms and heavy showers from 3am on Monday with a warning that there may be power cuts and flooding.

But despite the impending stormy weather, after a wet weekend, it won’t be long until things heat-up again. Netweather charts pinpoint the exact day when London will swelter in 30C heat yet again in what is proving to be a long hot summer.

Monday’s Met Office yellow weather warning for thunderstorms covers London and the south east of England from 3am until 9pm. The Met Office has warned that these storms may cause “sudden flooding” and “power cuts.” Travel may even be affected with motorists being told to prepare for difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

When will the weather start to improve?

Fear not, as things won’t stay miserable for too much longer. The Met Office forecasts that the rain will stop by this coming Wednesday (July 23), before temperatures rise to 26C on the Friday (July 25). Its online weather forecast says: “A mixture of drier periods with sunny spells but also scattered showers or spells of rain. There is a risk showers could be heavy, thundery and slow-moving at times.”

BBC Weather London’s forecast extends even further, showing that the drier weather should be mostly here to stay. On Friday, July 25 the thunderstorms should clear with temperatures to rise to 25C. London will then remain balmy at the mid-twenties mark for the foreseeable, with the odd drop of rain coming in every now and then.

However, Netweather is even more optimistic with London set to reach 30C on Sunday, August 3. Their weather map shows the sweltering heat set to hit the south east of England – so if they’re correct Londoners will want to make sure they have their sunhats and water bottles ready.

Why is London still so humid?

Londoners may have noticed that things have been particularly humid over the past few says. The UK’s national weather forecaster has put this down to a serious of factors, one being global warming, as seas surrounding the country are currently significantly warmer than average.

Jim Dales, of the British Weather Service, has said that the cooler nights won’t come in until the Autumn. He said: “In terms of this week, the south will dip in and out of the showers for the most part.” – find out more about why London is still so humid here.
