A man shared his shock after hearing the ‘worst’ baby names given to children at his local hospital – and he can’t believe a couple would even dream of doing that to their child
An NICU nurse revealed the ‘worst’ names she has ever heard in her years working in a hospital – and people can’t believe their ears. It comes after a man asked a nurse to ‘share the worst’ when visiting the NICU with his wife. He says he asks this question whenever he gets the chance as it’s always entertaining.
On Reddit, he said: “My wife and I asked all the NICU nurses what the worst names they’ve seen while working there. The really crazy ones I had multiple nurses confirm were real: J’ pronounced Japostrophe Pheline pronounced Felony Cash Money with variations like Ca$h Money and Kashmoney.”
In utter shock, the rushed to social media to share the moniker with the Reddit community r/tragedeigh, which is an online term used to describe “a given name that has been deliberately misspelled or completely made up to appear more unique than it actually is”.
Commenting on his post, one user said: “There was a baby called Thumbelina when my daughter was in the NICU. This was 23 years ago I thought her name choice was atrocious. I was so wrong. It gets way worse…”
Another user added: “Back in the early 70s I had a children’s record of Hans Christian Anderson stories (narrated by Danny Kaye, who played him in the movie). One of the stories was called Thumbelina.”
A third user said: “Oh my lawd! These are horrid. People name their kids anything just because they can.”

Another user added: “Met a kid with the middle name Dinosaur and have to admit I was a bit jealous.
“When I was pregnant with my second daughter I met a woman who had just given birth to her first daughter, Mars… also kind of cool, but I prefer more traditional names for my kids.”
A final user said: “It’s worth mentioning that OB and peds nurses have a certain sense of humour about kids names.
“I suspect it’s common to see who can come up with the best fake names and they always get told as if they are 100% real.
“If you had to deal with crazy parents all the time, you’d develop a weird sense of humour too.”
It comes after a brother blasted his pregnant sister for naming her son after a car dealership – simply because she likes how it sounds.
He explained how his 35-year-old sibling is due to give birth to her second child next month – and has already announced her second born’s name to close friends and family.
However, not everyone is convinced the moniker is a ‘good idea’. Some fear the boy will face judgement and ridicule later in life because of it.
