The UK will be hosting a special celebration next month for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games and Prince Harry is due to speak at a special service at the event
Prince Harry is all set to return to the UK in a matter of weeks, but one expert has said he will have “some explaining” to do if the plans fall through.
The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to return to the UK next month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. He’s due to speak at a special service at the event, which will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8.
Royal author Tom Quinn said Harry is likely to return to the UK as not going to the event would shine a spotlight on his strained relationship with Prince William. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “Barring a major upset, Harry will certainly return to the UK for the Invictus games in May – it’s his baby.

“If he decides not to come, it will take some explaining, because everyone will assume it’s because he doesn’t want the awkwardness of having to meet his brother or having to choose not to meet him.” Harry and William have been estranged for years and Harry failed to reunite with his brother when he last returned to the UK in February.
Tom continued: “Not coming would be worse than finding some sort of compromise where Harry sees William for 10 minutes or comes up with some reason why he doesn’t have time to see his brother and his father and has to get back to the States quickly to be with his children. But no one is going to be fooled by these excuses.”
The Invictus Games celebrations come soon after the UK government announced a multi-million-pound bid to see the games hosted in Birmingham in 2027. Johnny Mercer, the minister for veterans’ affairs and leading the bid, said: “It feels like a natural rounding of the circle to come back to the UK and we’re going to do everything we can to win the bid.”
Harry recently opened up about his plans to return to the UK following his brief visit to see King Charles back in February. The Duke of Sussex sat down for a half-an-hour conversation with his father after the monarch was diagnosed with cancer.
During an appearance on Good Morning America shortly after the trip, Harry said: “So my family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
He also said he was “grateful” to have been able to visit the King earlier this year. “Look I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I’m grateful for that,” Harry said.
